We would like to draw your attention to the second book of the Public Sector Financial Management (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-030-06037-4) book series of Palgrave Macmillan.

The book is entitled "Financial Sustainability of Public Sector Entities: The Relevance of Accounting Frameworks" and it is edited by Josette Caruana, Isabel Brusca, Eugenio Caperchione, Sandra Cohen and Francesca Manes Rossi.

This book analyses the role of public sector accounting, and the relevance of accounting frameworks, in assisting financially sustainable policy making. Focussing on the European context, the book examines financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting and other reporting requirements, for example, Government Finance Statistics. It also analyses emerging forms of reporting, such as popular reporting and integrated reporting, which may also be considered by policy makers, standard setters, and managers of public sector entities.

We would like to draw your attention to the first book of the Public Sector Financial Management (https://link.springer.com/bookseries/15782) book series of Palgrave Macmillan.

The book is entitled "The Research-Practice Gap on Accounting in the Public Service - An International Analysis" and it written by Laurence Ferry, Iris Saliterer, Ileana Steccolini and Basil Tucker

This book considers how the practical and public policy relevance of research might be increased, and academics and practitioners can better engage to define research agendas and deliver findings relevant to accounting and accountability in the public services. To do so, an international comparative analysis of the research-practice gap in public sector accounting has been undertaken. This involved academic perspectives from over twenty countries, and practitioner perspectives from leading international professional accounting bodies actively involved in the public services arena. It was found that research is valued for informing practice, but engaging at a high level of policy engagement has been primarily by a small group of experienced researchers. For other researchers the impact accomplished may not always be valued highly in the academic community relative to other, more scholarly, activities. The book therefore looks at how engagement and impact between academics and practitioners can be increased.

We would like to draw your attention to the APIRA 2019 conference, Auckland where the "AAAJ Special Issue Stream: Accountability and performance challenges in hybrid organizations: case studies” is organized by Prof. Giuseppe Grossi, Nord University, Norway. The idea is the collection of research on hybrid governance and organizations with a special emphasis on accounting research and researchers. Moreover, as the session title implicates the additional focus is on case studies and analysis.

This session is also closely related to the special issue in AAAJ journal. The special issue is in the making based on the Apira session. Please consider to submit to Apira if you have papers that could have good potential in terms of the topics.

We would like to draw your attention to the 17th Biennial CIGAR Conference that will take place on June 13-14 2019 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The theme of the 17th biennial CIGAR conference is ‘Alternative views on Public Sector Accounting and Financial Management’. The event is jointly organized by the Amsterdam Research Center in Accounting and the Zijlstra Center for Public Control, Governance and Leadership of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

The deadline for abstract or full paper submissions is March 25, 2019.
