PEFA 2020 CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS - The Interplay of Climate Change and Public Financial Management

Dear PSAAR friends,

We would like to draw your attention to the call by the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) program (https://pefa.org/) for research proposals from interested public finance practitioners, scientists, researchers, and scholars to strengthen the understanding of the interplay of climate change and public financial management. 

The deadline for submission of completed applications is December 12, 2019.

A total price amount for the research competition is USD 150,000 which will be distributed between several winners.

Panel at the IRSPM 2020 Conference on Participatory Budgeting

We would like to draw your attention to a panel at the IRSPM Annual Conference 2020 in Tampere, Finland. The overarching theme of the conference is “Smart Public Service?”, in which the panel chaired by Ellen Haustein, Peter C. Lorson (both University of Rostock), Jaroslav Dvorak (Klaipėda University), Lotta-Maria Sinervo and Pauliina Lehtonen (both Tampere University)will address the topic

“Critical perspectives in participatory budgeting”.

UPDATE: CIGAR Workshop 2020 and Phd Seminar

Dear PSAAR friends,

We would like to draw your attention to the CIGAR Workshop 2020 that will take place on June 16-17 2020 in the Campus Drammen of the University of South-Eastern Norway, in Norway. The theme of the CIGAR workshop is ‘The Quality of Public Sector Audit: Profession, Institutions and Standards’. A PhD Workshop will be held on June 15, 2020.

Due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation, both CIGAR Workshop and IPSASB Research Forum are organised online, whilst doctoral students are offered feedback personally by members of the organising committee.

Administrative Sciences: special issue under the title Public Sector Accounting and Auditing in Europe

Dear PSAAR friends,

We would like to draw your attention to a special issue under the title: Public Sector Accounting and Auditing in Europe that will be published in the journal “Administrative Sciences”.

The Special Issue Editor is Marco Bisogno.

The special issue intends to collect papers addressing the following themes:

• Comparative studies dealing with public-sector accounting standards.
• Comparative studies regarding public-sector auditing standards.
• Public-sector accounting and auditing harmonization: strategies and perspectives in the European context.
• The differences between European countries concerning the accounting and auditing systems: the role of legal, cultural and political factors.
• The development of a theoretical framework for financial reporting in the public sector.

Deadline for manuscript submissions: 28 February 2020.

2019 Transatlantic Dialogue (TAD 15): October 20-22, 2019

Dear PSAAR friends,

We could like to draw your attention to the 2019 Transatlantic Dialogue (TAD 15) that will be hosted by the School of Public Affairs and Administration, Rutgers University-Newark and the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, Baruch College, City University of New York.

This year’s conference theme is “Restoring the Administrative State:Trust, Engagement, Security, and Identity”.

The Workshop 2: Citizen Engagement is chaired by Victoria Alsina, Isabel Brusca, Francesca Manes Rossi.
