Dear PSAAR friends,

We would like to draw your attention to the Spring Workshop of the Permanent Study Group XII Public Sector Financial Management of EGPA that will take place in May 4-5, 2017 in Valletta, Malta.

The theme of the Workshop is "Financial sustainability of public administrations: the catalytic role of public financial management".

The deadline for abstract submissions is the 1st of February 2017.

In the call for papers you can find all the details about the main issues that will be discussed in the conference.
We invite papers about the following themes, but not limited to


• The contributions of financial management scholars to support public administrations in achieving financial health and ensure intergenerational equity, promoting accounting policies in Europe and worldwide.
• Studies on financial sustainability reporting and the factors that can influence financial sustainability in several levels of government The role of international accounting standards in reporting, evaluating and controlling financial sustainability in public administrations.
• The challenges of adopting accounting standards both at national and international level (i.e.: IPSAS; EPSAS; national reforms), which address financial sustainability issues.
• Innovations in management accounting for public sector entities, for example the introduction of performance budgeting and accrual budgeting to improve financial management.
• The role of auditing in PFM systems in addressing financial sustainability.
• Experiences in the adoption of new tools (e.g. popular reporting, integrated reporting, sustainability reporting and performance reporting) to actively involve citizens in achieving sustainability.

Papers that fall within the general scope of public sector accounting and the comparability of governmental financial reporting in the EU are also welcome.

Acceptance and notification to authors: 15 February 2017

Last day for Early bird registration: 1 March 2017

Deadline for submitting the complete papers: 15 April 2017

Last day for registration: 24 April 2017

Participation Fees:

The fee is €100 for registration before 1 March 2017 and €140 for late registration (until 24 April 2017).
