Abstract
This special issue of FAM is based on a selection of papers from the 12th biennial Comparative Governmental Accounting Research (CIGAR) conference which was held in Modena in May 2009. The papers included in this special issue reveal the diversity of approaches deployed within the CIGAR network.
The projects undertaken within the CIGAR network are both spatial and temporal comparative research and both types of studies are included in this special issue.
